Genre Wars was originally a short-film contest to which my friend and fellow filmmaker, Justin Moe, and I contributed last year.
Our combined effort however, led us both to become incredibly invested in the storyline and context of the world created from the competition, however indirectly.
Though we hadn’t intended to both become so fixated on these particular characters and plots, when the contest came to an official close back in December, we agreed that we both wanted to keep it going…but as our own series.
So, all these months later, we are looking pre-production full in the face. Most of the actual writing falls to me (which I am happy to do and am loving every minute of it!). Our goal is to start shooting in June. But we have a lot to do then. We’ve already got some sites going about it:
– Genre Wars: Resistance Rising on MiddleEarthNetwork
– Genre Wars: Resistance Rising on Facebook
There will be Tumblr and Twitter feeds coming soon as well.
Things to look for:
– A Map of the planet Kabathan, where our series takes place.
– A Map of Fantasarian Territory and the main camp in which the series will most often be set
– A History of Kabathan, focused mostly on the planet’s most revered artifact, The Onyium
– A “First Look” video that will include behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the cast and crew.
So yeah…lots to do, lots to look forward to. Full steam ahead!
